T Minus 12 Hours and Counting

Gig day at last! This evening, I shall be bringing this little beauty out of semi-retirement. Why - long scale length = less string tension = easier bends. Besides that it's pretty and it has 'Gibson' plastered across the headstock which always impresses the natives.
Of course the obligatory Travis Bean will be with me and I will no doubt end up playing that due to it's superior tone and sustain qualities.
I'll let youse know how it goes - should be massive fun and oh so fuckin' loud.
BRING IT ON!

Good luck Dr. but with a weapon that pretty you shouldn't need it.
Explain for any non guitar addicts what it is.
    I thought you'd re-strung a Les Paul and that isn't.
Long Scale - you showing off?

  2. Ah right. It is a Gibson Les Paul DC. Which stands for Double Cutaway. Long scale means it has a 24 fret neck - so a couple more up the dusty end to wail on. This is a discontinued model and is worth.........well let's not lower the tone of the piece by telling!
It was my workhorse instrument for a few years but has been superceded by the Bean. And guess what? Not a note was played on it this evening apart from to tune it.
Great gig mind - bikers - much heavy duty 2 wheeled iron-mongery and some jolly scruffy bearded types with odd women. Band played a stormer and the thumb held out for two and a half hours. I am happy again (and SORE!) A glass of red and a kip I think.
